Over the past few days I have been working with my talented cover artist Rodrigo Adolfo in designing the front cover for my latest title Premonitions, which is the sequel to my Amazon bestselling horror novel Devil’s Nightmare.
I love getting my readers involved in the process, so I would like to get your opinion on these two cover designs. The difference between the two is the title at the top. The first one has “Premonitions” as the title and a tagline mentioning that the novel is the sequel to Devil’s Nightmare. The second design is a more bold design with the original title graphic from the first book on the first line and the title of the second book on the second line.
So, here is my question: Which one do you think looks best? You can vote in the poll below and also leave specific feedback in the comments section too if you like. I appreciate your involvement in this process.
Hi Sharky, I like them both, but I chose #2 because I think the text is small in #1 for the top line and difficult to read. When converted to a thumbnail for a book site like Amazon, it will be even smaller.
Because I like the ‘bestselling’ tagline, my suggestion would be to use the verbiage and add it to somewhere on the cover, large enough and in a color that will make it stand out.

Thanks for voting and expressing your thoughts, Eden. The Amazon thumbnail is certainly something to consider. I’ve gotten so much great feedback regarding the likes and dislikes of both designs. I think I know where I’m leaning, but won’t make my final decision until closer to publication.

Thanks, Tylia. I’m very excited about publishing this one in October. It’s been a very long process from start to finish. I think I began writing the first draft back in March, 2013.

Hi Sharky, I like the ‘best selling’ version for two reasons…1) The title is clear and 2) “Best Selling tag draws a new reader to buy the book. The second one confuses the title, where only a person who has read Devil’s Nightmare will understand that this book is titled “Premonitions”. P.S. I’ts an Intriguingly scary cover and I cannot wait to get my mitts on it! :0)

Thanks for the feedback, Donna. This is a tough one because so many people like both covers for various reasons. They all make great points in their decision, too. By the way, Premonitions is coming in October. 🙂
