Welcome to Chumming with Sharky™, my blog series where I treat viewers from every corner of the deep blue sea with a taste of talented authors from a myriad of genres. This month, it is my pleasure to welcome Kim Alexander, author of The Demon Door fantasy series. So, naturally, the theme for this episode is the fantasy genre. Kim even made us some snacks, so grab a tasty plate of sardines on saltines–they’re delicious and they rhyme! At the end of the interview, we’ll let you know how you can win a signed copy of The Sand Prince. Until then, grab your snack, find a comfy reclining seat, and enjoy the show . . . Today it’s my pleasure to reveal fellow author Sherilyn Putnam’s first mid-grade novel The Dragon Child (The Dragon Adventures, Book 1). I met Sherilyn at a Facebook event earlier this year and didn’t take long to consider her a personal friend of mine. I highly recommend giving her a follow on social media (links below). She’s got a great personality and is quite the talented writer. Check out the blurb and cover for her upcoming novel below and feel free to ask her anything in the comments.

SCRATCH LINE

When a gypsy boy stumbles over an egg near the ocean he doesn’t know just how much it will change his life. Once the egg hatches, the boy’s world will never be the same, nor will it be for the creature that comes out of the egg. Named Dane after the boy’s father, the creature will begin a journey to find his own family. Along the way, he’ll learn that family is sometimes who you choose, not who you are born to.

About the Author

Sherilyn Putnam Author PicSherilyn Putnam is the pen name of an author who decided holding in the stories for younger people just wasn’t an option. Thus a whole new persona emerged, ready to share her love of fantastical beings and adventurous characters with the young readers of the world. Sherilyn is almost exactly like the ‘other’ author, being she lives in the deep south, has two daughters, a hero husband and lives in a tiny house ruled by two insane cats and a miniature dachshund with a Napoleon complex.

Her books for young readers almost always have the same message, one she feels very strongly about, “be who you are, not who others think you should be.”

Profile Photo (Cropped)Robert “Sharky” Pruneda is a native Texan, video game “enthusiast” [addict], and fan of all things horror. He left a career in the newspaper industry in 2011 to pursue the life of a nocturnal author, brainstorming new and creative ways to creep out his readers. He doesn’t only write horror though. He also pens the occasional family-oriented tale just to keep from going completely nuts with all those creatures of the night whispering in his ears. When he’s not pulling ideas out of his twisted brain, you’ll likely find him on social media or fighting alongside his fellow gaming buddies where they all get shot up into Swiss cheese (or turned into little bite-sized chunks because of “Sharky’s” obsession with explosives). Medic!

Today I welcome friend and fellow author Steven Montano to my home in cyberspace. I’ve had Steven here a couple of times before and today we’re cross-promoting each other’s books. He’s promoting Devil’s Nightmare on his site and I’m helping promote his new novel The Black Tower, Book 3 of The Skullborn Trilogy. Check it out below:

SCRATCH LINE

The Black TowerWar returns to Malzaria in this epic conclusion to The Skullborn Trilogy.

Deep in the wastes called the Bonelands, rival crime guilds and renegade Bloodspeakers battle through the ruined streets of Corinth. At the heart of the doomed city lies a magical portal which grants access to the dark citadel of Chul Gaerog, wherein lie the secrets of the long dead Blood Queen.

Armies amass to the south as powerful forces from the Jlantrian and Den’nari Empires make ready to clash with the monstrous Black Army and its frightful leader, the black giant called Ghul, agent of the Cabal and ally of the dreaded Iron Count.

And deep in the heart of the black tower, the dream witch Ijanna Taivorkan comes face-to-face with the dark angel Calladar, once guardian to the Blood Queen and self-appointed master of the citadel. Only the fallen knight Azander Dane can help her survive her trials, but first he must face the demons of his past, as well as a merciless squad of Jlantrian hunters sent to destroy the woman he’s sworn to protect…

Return to a world of dark magic, tainted heroes and dark plots in this action-packed sequel to City of Scars and Path of Bones.

Coming November 13th!

Sharky: Ah, it’s great to back in the studio again, but there’s just something not quite right about the décor. Where are the sharks? And what are those funky looking fish with the long curved teeth protruding from their lower jaws? They’re eating all of my exotic fish! And what about the sharks? The shark tank is supposed to have . . . um . . . sharks!

Video source: YouTube, user: predatorfish UK. More videos here

Producer: You ordered the vampire fish last week for the show, remember? And regarding the sharks, somebody forgot to feed them their weekly dose of surfers over the holidays. However, Anchor did stick around to make the drinks.

Sharky: Ahem . . . well, um . . . it’s a good thing that hammerhead shark has a weird appetite for galvanized nails and Home Depot shoppers. Anyway to start this season of Chumming with Sharky™ allow me to introduce today’s first guest (okay, our only guest). He’s a San Antonio Spurs fan (and used to eat basketballs for breakfast), star of “The Good Doctor” (No, not that one, Karen) in high school, a wannabe cyclops, an accountant, and he wrote this little series called Blood Skies when he wasn’t busy slaying real vampires and hellhounds. He is the one and only Steven Montano.
