Wow! My heart’s still beating out of my chest! – January 13, 2013 By Donna L. Sadd
I really enjoyed reading Devil’s Nightmare. I was hooked at the prologue; then it’s fast pace proceeded to yank me through one heck of a scary thrill ride! This is a difficult review to write without spoilers, but what I can say is that the characters are fleshed out well, description and dialog paint the story vividly, and the mystery takes twists and turns that kept this reader guessing. I’m not a horror fiction fan; however, I’m a fan of Mr. Pruneda’s work and this occult thriller seriously kept my heart pounding every step of the way. I could easily see Devil’s Nightmare being made into a film and I recommend that you read it . . . with the lights on of course!
Devil’s Nightmare is available in several formats. Just click on the image of your favorite eBook retailer below and claim your copy today.
And remember to Pursue your dreams… and never look back!
It’s official! My latest novel Devil’s Nightmareis now available for purchase on Amazon for all Kindle readers and Kindle reading apps. Just click on the cover image and you’ll be directed to my book’s page on Amazon.com. My novel is also available on Amazon UK here.
I was originally planning on publishing this novel on January 15, but I was up late last night working on my synopsis do to a bit of insomnia (i.e. I couldn’t stop thinking about publishing my book). Now that the Kindle version is up and ready for purchase, I will be working on the .ePub version for Nook and Kobo. They should be ready within the next week. Until then, if you have a Kobo or Nook, you can get the .ePub versions on Smashwords here. You can also download 20% of the book for free. I’ll let everyone know when the book is available on Nook and Kobo in a separate post.
Thanks again for your support and encouragement as I release this novel for the world to enjoy! Have an awesome week!
Cheers!

After hundreds of hours and a year’s worth of work planning, researching, writing, editing, and formatting, this puppy is ready to hit the ebook market. You can also download a sample of the first 20% of my novel for free. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Smashwords, you can basically purchase the ebook in several different formats which can be viewed with your favorite ebook application on your computer, smart phone, or tablet (including Kindle, Nook and Kobo). I just downloaded and tested the .mobi and .epub files and they came out great! Amazon should have the Kindle version uploaded to their site within the next 12 – 24 hours, so if you have been anticipating purchasing Devil’s Nightmare directly on Amazon for your Kindle, I’ll send out another post as soon as it is available.
Thank you all for your continued support! You are all awesome! Now it’s time to start writing the next book.
Cheers!

Considering the fact I dropped off the face of the blogosphere recently and the world didn’t end today, I figured I’d put together a quick post to let you all know that I’m still alive and kicking. The truth is I’ve been very busy with the whole self-employment thing and frantically working on Devil’s Nightmare so I can have it ready shortly after Santa Claus delivers all those new Kindle, Nook, and Kobo readers all over the world next week. And for those of you who already have an e-reader you most certainly will have shiny new gift cards to load up on some great books to read in the coming weeks.

Devil’s Nightmare Available in Mid-January
I just finished attacking my printed manuscript with pink red ink and have applied the edits for the first five chapters this week. I plan to take advantage of the downtime from the day job over the weekend and throughout next week (and the fact that the world didn’t blow up today) to finish applying all of my edits. I will then review feedback from my awesome beta readers (Thank you, Sara, Sheilagh, and Dannie!) and make additional edits during the first week of the New Year. Formatting for the e-book edition of Devil’s Nightmare should begin during the second week of January, and if all goes as planned, I will have this novel published on January 12, 2013! That’s my goal, anyway.

Halloween is here and I wanted to celebrate this spooky holiday by giving my readers a special sneak preview of my novel Devil’s Nightmare. I’ve been working on this story since January and initially wanted to publish it on Halloween, but it looks like we’re looking at an early 2013 release. I appreciate all of the support you have all given me as I work towards publishing this chilling thriller.
The editing process is currently underway and I’m already getting some great feedback from beta readers that received my book this week. The response has been very positive. Here are some comments about Devil’s Nightmare that I received from S.G. Lee who screamed through the manuscript in only a day. Wow! I sure wish I could read that fast! 🙂 Anyway, here are the comments received via email and also posted on Twitter:
“I just finished reading your manuscript. Very powerful. I loved it.”
“Reading an early copy of Devil’s Nightmare by Robert Pruneda @sharkbaitwrites and finding it a chilling good read.”
“If you like Stephen King you are going to love Devil’s Nightmare coming soon from Robert Pruneda @sharkbaitwrites.”
“[Devil’s Nightmare] is as bit as scary as Stephen King is to me.”

I am pleased to announce that I have designed the initial cover for my current novel Devil’s Nightmare. After working on the design for a couple of hours, I decided to omit “The” from the title. What do you think?
Let me know what you think of the cover in the comments below. I’m very excited to have this cover produced as it’s one step closer to completing my novel. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Carolyn Arnold dares to “break the rules” in Eleven. A thrilling ride!
Eleven is an FBI thriller that has great character development, a unique writing style that dares to “break the rules”, and an excellent overall story.
Character Development
I think this is where I enjoyed Eleven the most. The characters in Eleven were very well-written. They each had their own unique personalities and it is evident that Carolyn Arnold put a lot of time and care into developing them. They were created in a way that didn’t overwhelm you with a lengthy back story or flashbacks, but instead you get to know a little more about them as the story progresses. It’s kind of like in real life. The longer you spend with someone, the more you get to know them. Arnold did a very good job in executing this.
When I read a book it’s also important for me to get to know the characters enough to where I really care about the fate of each character for me to really enjoy the story. If I don’t care about the characters, you’ve lost me in the story. In Eleven I really cared about the characters. In fact I found myself feeling sorry for one of them and there was even one character that I really disliked; but after getting to know him better, I found I understood why he acted the way he did. Again, this is attributed to Carolyn Arnold’s excellent character development.
The Writing Style
Carolyn Arnold “breaks the rules” when it comes to her writing style in Eleven. It starts off with the reader following the story from the main character’s perspective. Later, however, as the story begins to unfold and we begin to reach the climax of the story, Arnold suddenly shifts perspectives to tell the story in a different way, but also continues to use the first-person perspective of the main character.
I enjoyed following the FBI team’s investigation from the main character’s perspective and seeing how he reacted to certain situations. When the writing started switching perspectives from first to third and back to first, it was initially slightly distracting. I wasn’t certain if this was going to work well at first, because I had never read a novel that switched perspectives. I am pleased to say that it did indeed work very well. This was a very unique writing style that I thoroughly enjoyed.
The Overall Story
I love thrillers and therefore can be very picky with the end result of the roller-coaster ride that is expected from them. Arnold did a very good job of keeping me guessing during the investigation in Eleven. Just when you think the team is on the right track, something throws them off. I had my suspicions of who the killer was (I was wrong of course!), but I was pleasantly surprised when the killer was finally revealed.
If you like thrillers, you’ll enjoy Carolyn Arnold’s Eleven.
Excellent story! I look forward to reading the Madison Knight series.
Carolyn Arnold is the author of several novels in the mystery, thriller and suspense genres. TIES THAT BIND, the first in a police procedural mystery series surrounding Detective Madison Knight, was her debut novel and published May 2011.
Carolyn was born in 1976 in the rural town of Picton, Ontario. While her passion for writing dates back to her teen years, it wasn’t until 2008 that she completed her first novel. She lives with her husband and her two beagles in Southwestern Ontario
